Gender Roles and Marriage: A Fact Sheet

Reading this article it really opened up my eyes to see how far along we have come over the years with gender role. Traditionally men are looked at the ones with the power, decision maker and the voice. Women, were considered the home makers, the ones to hold the house down while their husbands were at work making the money. Today the gender roles have changed. We find more women now going to work and making money and having the men share the responsibilities of the home making life. Though many changes have been made still in some cultures such as the Hispanic culture, women are still considered the home makers and the men are still the bread winners.
Things have changed for the better when it comes to gender roles. Going from men being the bread winners and women staying home to now both men and women are in the work force sharing the same amount of responsibilities. Who knows maybe in a few years things will change again, women will be the bread winners and men will be the ones to stay home and hold the house down like women did for so many years.
